Purple Meathead for Public Office?
Make no mistake: Joey Gilbert is fighting against us, not for us.
Joey Gilbert, one of many insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, is running for governor of Nevada. Also known as “Purple Meathead”, Gilbert has endorsements from human rights lawyer Leigh Dundas and Leon Benjamin, a pastor and Congressional candidate from Virginia. As one of the Republican candidates in Nevada’s gubernatorial election, Gilbert’s platform is promoting businesses and fighting “unconstitutional” regulations that are “not in the best interest of the community”.
The boxer-turned-lawyer shows skepticism (DOA: 12/13/21) about the efficacy and safety of the COVID-19 vaccine and opposes various pandemic restrictions that Governor Sisolak put into effect. He believes that there was a “concerted effort” (DOA 12/14/21) to not have a COVID-19 treatment protocol and that vaccination requirements in workplaces are unconstitutional. In addition to not endorsing COVID-19 restrictions or vaccines, Gilbert is a supporter of (DOA 12/14/21) open carry laws, full funding of the police, voter ID, and supporting Nevada’s ranchers.
