Israeli Attacks Continue Despite ICJ Ruling

Even Israelis are protesting for Palestine, but the attacks continue.

Despite orders from the ICJ (International Court of Justice) to halt its invasion of Rafah, Israel continues to shell the small region. Journalists on the ground have also reported that places such as Nuseirat, Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis have faced repeated attacks. Even as international pressure continues to mount, Israel’s attacks on Palestine do not show any signs of stopping or slowing down.

As more and more demonstrations call for divestment from Israel and for an end to the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza, Israel has doubled down on its invasion of Rafah and attacks on other places in Gaza. So far, the Gaza Health Ministry has not updated death counts due to a lack of resources and the sheer amount of deaths that have occurred. The official death toll also does not take people trapped under the rubble or the unidentified dead into account.

This international outcry is something taking place all around the world transcending race, religion, and nationality. Having been displaced over 10 times and being bombed each time evacuations take place, Palestinians in Gaza have nowhere to safe to go. Multiple journalists from all over Gaza have confirmed this multiple times as they documented their own displacements.

Notably, Israelis have taken to the streets to demonstrate calling for Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation and to end the genocide in Gaza. In the recent May 15th demonstration, they played the Palestinian national anthem, displayed watermelons, and held signs that said to stop the genocide. On other occasions, Israelis have called for a ceasefire after realizing that it was mutually beneficial for both them and Palestinians.

When even Israelis are demonstrating for Palestine, the pressure on Israel to stop bombing Rafah is palpable all over the world. Despite this, the Israeli military doubles down on carpet bombing Gaza and also bombing the West Bank. This is also not the only time that Israel has brazenly defied international law. The establishment of settlements in the West Bank and various acts that denied food and water to Palestinians prior to October 7th, 2023 have also violated international law.
