Mansour Shouman, a Palestinian Canadian journalist and humanitarian worker, was abducted by the IDF and has not been seen since 11 days ago. Since then, a TikToker, Osiris the Atlantean, posted a video in which he claims to have identified Mansour by a distinct bald spot on his head. According to this netizen, Mansour’s team and family could not conclusively identify whether that was him or not.

Despite not being able to confirm the man’s identity, Mansour’s team has urged everyone to keep pressuring the Canadian government to demand Mansour’s safe return. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that “we are actively engaged” and “working on this” to various Canadian reporters. However, Mansour’s family and team feel otherwise. Global Affairs Canada and Mélanie Joly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, have only told them that they are “working on it” so far.

Because most of Mansour’s body and face are obscured in the footage he may have been spotted in, conclusively identifying him is rather difficult. In addition to that, other men are visible in the footage. Even if they do not resemble Mansour, they are still people who have lives and families that they wish to return to. Keeping that in mind, many people have wondered how many people are in Mansour’s situation but don’t have as much visibility as Mansour.

The seeming lack of action from the Canadian government has disturbed many netizens. People from all around the world are calling for Mansour’s safe return and have even created this petition which has gathered over 190,000 signatures. Not many people know of his whereabouts other than him being abducted by the IDF, so the search for Mansour is still on.
