Church Plays Trump Propaganda, Former Musician Resigns

An attempt to comfort a congregation veers into some disconcerting territory.

A former church musician left an anonymous post on Reddit, one whose story may herald a bleak future for the American church. One of the many First Baptist Churches in Indiana had played pro-Trump political propaganda for the congregation. He plans to resign from his job with the church in August because the church showed overtly political content that . The non-denominational, Baptist flag-flying has church played the two videos during two different weekly sermons. The first video is of Trump’s apparent origins as a boy named after Donald Smith, a teenager who led public prayers in a home-based church. The second video is a text-to-voice program reading Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò’s letter to Trump. The letter makes several mentions of a “deep state” trying to “build a world without freedom” according to a “Masonic adage”.

Despite a strong undercurrent of conservatism, this church has not openly endorsed any other political candidates. In contrast to the act of borderline venerating Trump, this church seemed to shy away from political matters altogether before showing the videos.
